The front page of the Daily Mirror's website this morning had a picture of Michael Howard and the caption 'Bloodsucker'. It has since been amended to 'Bloodsuckers', which is no improvement. The article is about a new Labour poster campaign against the Tories' economic policies, which are the responsibility of Michael Howard and Oliver Letwin, both of whom are Jewish. I hope the Labour posters don't mention bloodsuckers [Update: they don't], but the Mirror's headline makes little sense otherwise, unless it's a gratuitous, ill-judged reference to Howard's family roots in Transylvania.
It must be tempting for cartoonists such as Steve Bell (and here), or headline writers, who can't overtly attack Michael Howard using Jewish caricatures, to play up the Dracula image. But do these people not know about the Blood Libel? Or that Louis Farrakhan is banned from the UK for calling Jews 'bloodsuckers'? Or that the notorious (Benjamin) 'Franklin Prophecy' (pro; anti) referred to Jews as 'vampires'? Or that the image of Jews sucking the blood of children is prevalent in the loopier Arab/Muslim press?
Michael Howard being depicted as Dracula, a vampire preying on innocents, sucking their blood, taps into and seeks to exploit the anti-Hebraic subconscious of us gentile voters. Shame on us all, especially the Daily Mirror, which is still moronic even though Piers Moron is no longer its editor.
