Nice work, Mr Rusbridger

Alan Rusbridger is benefiting greatly from taking the Guardian downmarket, to the tune of half a million pounds a year.  His basic salary is now £329,000, and last year he earned a bonus of £175,000,

...in recognition of his leading role in the successful launch of the new format Guardian and Observer newspapers. [Press Gazette]

The Rusbridger/Blair years could be described as having been blighted by stay-too-long leaders whose ideological blinkeredness destroyed the heart of that which they had been given responsibility to protect.
